AMINE’s Vacay in Brisbane
by sakina
Aminé’s Tour De Dance stop in Brisbane was a celebration from the moment the doors opened — sweaty, colourful and full of people who genuinely wanted to be there. Fortitude Music Hall felt intimate in all the right ways, with a tightly packed crowd that brought the energy from the very first beat. Not a single person stood still all night; everyone who showed up was fully locked in.

Opening duties went to Alice Ivy, who wasted no time turning up the heat. Her set was effortlessly vibey, blending live guitar with soundboard magic in a way that felt both psychedelic and laid-back. She was constantly engaging the crowd, clearly appreciative of the moment and the audience in front of her, and her presence felt warm and genuine. There’s something about her music that scratches the same itch as Porter Robinson — dreamy, emotional, and immersive. Standout track In My Mind hit especially hard, and by the time she wrapped up, the room was already moving as one.

Keeping that momentum going was MadisonLST, who set the tone with a run of bass-heavy, mood-setting, and booty shaking tracks that had the crowd bouncing in anticipation. When Mo Bamba dropped, the room erupted — bodies moving, energy peaking as everyone waited for what was next.
That wait ended just after 9:15pm, when Aminé galloped onto the stage and launched straight into Arc de Triomphe. It was the perfect opener, immediately setting the pace for a fast-moving, high-energy set that felt like a greatest-hits sprint. Songs flew by at lightning speed, often running just over a minute, but somehow every moment landed. The crowd didn’t miss a beat, shouting lyrics back and moving in sync from start to finish.
Visually, the show was pure Aminé. Bright colours, hand-drawn doodles, and animations that felt like his merch designs brought to life filled the screens, creating a world that was unmistakably his. He utilised every inch of the stage, smiling constantly and feeding off the crowd’s energy. Tracks from 13 Months of Sunshine like Vacay made the room feel like summer in motion, while older favourites had the entire venue singing word for word.
One of the night’s standout moments came when Aminé brought a fan named Colin on stage to sign his tour pants — a small but memorable gesture that perfectly captured the spirit of the show. The crowd’s connection to him was undeniable, whether it was shouting lyrics back, responding with a confident “I know” when he told Brisbane they were beautiful, or hyping him up between tracks.
Arc de Triomphe returned for the encore, and yes — the shoey happened. Aminé closed the night exactly how he opened it: high-energy, chaotic, and completely in tune with the room. Brisbane left sweaty, smiling, and reminded once again why Aminé remains one of the most fun live performers to watch right now.
